Spring

As Rum reawakens from winter hibernation and the cuckoo begins to call, a visit in spring is full of wonderful things, stay longer and join in with them all!

Every Tuesday & Thursday- Seawatch with Community Ranger Trudi. Meet at the Otter Hide 1100-1300hrs Tues, 1000-1200hrs Thurs. No charge

Every Wednesday - Discover Rum. Guided walk in conjunction with CalMac ferries. Meet at the ferry pier, 11.45am £5/£2.50

Every Tuesday and Thursday - Evening Talk - The Isle of Rum, An Introduction. Village Hall 1930hrs. £5/£2

Every Thursday - Rum Seabird & Dolphin Experience  - Boat trip to Soay, May to September. Meet at the ferry pier 1300hrs. £10/£5

Every Friday - Where Eagles Dare. Guided walk with Community Ranger Trudi. Meet at the Village Hall at 0930hrs. £8/£4

April

Easter Weekend Monday 2nd April

1-3pm: Easter Weekend Guided Wildlife Walk

Join the Ranger for a guided wildlife walk to look for signs of spring and forage for seafood! Good boots are essential as it will be wet in places.

Meet at the Village Hall Cost £5 Adults / £2.50 Children

Big Blue Ocean beach cleans all week, led by Rum Primary School

Ranger Away 19th-26th April

Friday 27th April: 7.30-8.30pm: Evening talk – “An Introduction to the Isle of Rum” (twice-weekly talk) An evening lecture with slides about the history, wildlife and geology of Rum.

Starts in the Village Hall at 7.30pm Cost £5 Adults / £2 Children

Saturday 28th April: 11am-1pm: Wildlife Walk: Rum has a wealth of wildlife to see and appreciate. Join the Ranger for a guided walk around the shores and woodlands. Wear good boots, as some areas are boggy.

Meet outside the Village Hall Cost £5 Adults / £2.50 Children

A 2hr Dawn Chorus Walk around the shores and woodlands, followed by breakfast at the Isle of Rum Café. Meet outside the Bunkhouse at 5am, returning to the village hall for breakfast at 7am.

BOOKING IS ESSENTIAL FOR THIS EVENT: Cost £15 Adults / £10 Children

If you want to come on the walk only, prices are £10 Adults / £5 Children, and booking is still essential.

10am-12pm: May Day Weekend Guided Wildlife Walk

Join the Ranger for a guided wildlife walk to look for seabirds and seals, and to forage for wild seafood. Good boots are essential as it will be wet in places. Bring a bowl or bag if you want to take your seafood home to cook.

Autumn

As the leaves change colour and fall from the trees and the red deer rut, bellow and fight, we harvest Rum's larder, feast on our produce and send fireworks into the night!

Winter

It may be cold but it's sure not bleak as we light candles and twinkling lights, we'll light up the dark as we celebrate -shorter days just mean longer nights!
